Casa (Preschool, Junior and Senior Kindergarten) Admission Process

  • Register with the City of Ottawa Child Care Registry and Waitlist at the following:        City of Ottawa Waitlist. Note: There is no charge or fee for a child to be placed on the waiting list.
  • Once you have been informed that the School has an opening available, and that you confirm you wish to enroll your child, the School will organize a 20-minute visit during which your child will meet with a Casa Head Teacher. This visit is mandatory and an important part of the admission process. It provides you with the opportunity to speak with our teaching staff and enables the School to determine whether our Casa Program is well suited to your child.
  • Following that visit, a decision regarding your child’s acceptance in our Casa Program will be made within 48 hours by the School Administration.
  • If enrollment is confirmed, you will be provided with an enrollment package.
  • To secure a space for your child, please submit all documents, deposits, and post-dated cheques listed in the enrollment package within 5 business days.

School Fee

Parkdale Montessori School is part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) System. As such, the school fee reflects $22 per day for 204 operational days totalling $4,488 for the academic year September 2025 – June 2026. The school fee reflects $22 per day for 208 operational days totalling $4,576 for the school year September 2026 – June 2027.

What The School Fee Includes

For all children:

  • 7 hours daily of Montessori Education (8:30 am to 3:30 pm).
  • Two healthy snacks a day.
  • Three seasonal events featuring guest presenters.
  • All yearly school materials and maintenance costs.
  • Precare (8:00 am to 8:30 am) IF not already at capacity.
  • Aftercare (3:30 pm to 5:15 pm) IF not already at capacity.

For children under 44 months old, the school fee also includes:

  • A daily catered hot lunch
    • Follows Canada’s Food Guide.
    • Two menus are available: a regular menu and an alternate one for children with dietary restrictions, allergies, food sensitivities and intolerances.
    • Water is served with the children’s meal. Milk is also served to children who do not have dietary restrictions.

For children 44 months and older:

  • Families have the option to select hot lunch for their child (IF not already at capacity).
  • Fee for hot lunch: $3,400 (non-base fee) to be paid in addition to the school base fee.

Requirements

  • Ages (3 to 6 years old) are approximate and placement depends on each child’s abilities and emotional development.
  • Children must be fully toilet-trained to be accepted into the Casa Program (i.e., able to independently use the toilet, wipe, and wash hands).
  • Children must have the ability to care for their own personal needs, and show age-appropriate independence and readiness (e.g. physical independence could be observed through your child’s ability to dress themselves; emotional independence could be manifested through ability to verbalize needs; social readiness means that your child has some ability to understand limits, can usually wait, and can control impulses most times).
  • Children must come for a visit prior to acceptance.
  • Previous school/daycare records must be submitted if applicable.
  • The Montessori curriculum at the Casa level is based on a three-year cycle. Therefore, it is in the child’s best interest that a commitment is made for that length of time.
